Money trail worth ₹45 crore traced': What ED told court while seeking extension of Arvind Kejriwal's judicial Custody
The judicial custody of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been extended by the Rouse Avenue court till 3 July in the liquor policy case.
This comes after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday (19 June) urged the court to extend Kejriwal's judicial custody by asserting that Rs 45 crore of Rs 100 crore-scam has been traced.
The ED argued that Kejriwal's custody is important for further investigation, while the Delhi CM's counsel argued that no grounds justify the extension of the custody.
Kejriwal's advocate Vivek Jain asserted that the ED's extension application is "bereft of merits" and objected to the judicial remand while stating that the challenge to arrest is sub judice before the Supreme Court.
Kejriwal was arrested on 21 March this year by ED and later sent to judicial custody. The custody of another accused Vinod Chauhan was also extended till 3 July. Chauhan was arrested in May.
