PNGRB plans ombudsman for CGD, petrol and diesel consumers
The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has announced plans to introduce an ombudsman system to address grievances and enhance consumer protection for consumers of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), Piped Natural Gas (PNG), petrol, and diesel. This move aims to streamline dispute resolution processes and ensure a more efficient mechanism for addressing consumer complaints.
The proposed ombudsman system will serve as an independent and impartial authority tasked with resolving disputes between consumers and entities operating in the City Gas Distribution (CGD) sector, as well as petrol and diesel suppliers. By providing a dedicated platform for grievance redressal, the PNGRB aims to enhance transparency, accountability, and consumer satisfaction within the petroleum and natural gas sector.
The introduction of an ombudsman system comes as a welcome development for consumers, who often face challenges in seeking timely resolution of complaints related to billing discrepancies, service interruptions, quality issues, and other concerns. With the ombudsman in place, consumers will have access to a specialized forum for lodging complaints and seeking resolution in a fair and expeditious manner.
The PNGRB's initiative underscores its commitment to promoting consumer rights and fostering a more responsive regulatory framework within the petroleum and natural gas sector. By establishing mechanisms for effective grievance redressal, the board seeks to instill confidence among consumers and enhance trust in the integrity of the regulatory process.
