On a scorching summer afternoon in Nainital's Ramnagar village, 58-year-old farmer Lalit Mohan Satyawali wears a grim expression as he gazes over his ancestral orchard. Planted nearly 70 years ago by his grandfather, the once flourishing two-acre land bore abundant mangoes, litchis, and jackfruits, reminisces the seasoned farmer. Today, however, he laments that the jackfruit trees stand lifeless, and the yields of mangoes and litchis have sharply plummeted.

Not far from Satyawali's orchard lies a six-acre farmland owned by 55-year-old Deep Belwal, who echoes similar concerns. Belwal reveals that his litchi production has drastically declined in recent years, highlighting the challenges faced by local farmers amidst changing environmental conditions.
